McAuliffe, who served as governor from 2014 to 2018, is tied with Republican Glenn Youngkin as the race winds down to election day on Nov.2. Younkin\u2019s campaign responded to the former president\u2019s accusations on Sunday morning. \u201cGlenn has addressed this multiple times before Obama came to Virginia to bail Terry out, but instead of writing a story about the former p resident\u2019s false statements, the press is indulging Terry\u2019s fantasies and lies because he can\u2019t run on his failed record and radical vision for the future,\u201d Youngkin spokesperson Christian Martinez told Fox News. Obama didn\u2019t specifically cite any Republican election laws, but Democrats have been critical about legislation passed by GOP legislatures in Texas, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas. Obama is among a number of notable Democrats who have campaigned for McAuliffe, including Vice President Kamala Harris and first lady Jill Biden. President Biden is expected to campaign with him on Tuesday in Arlington.
