Fox News produced a \u00ab\u00a0behind the scenes\u00a0\u00bb documentary focused on Rittenhouse and his defense team.<\/b>
\nKyle Rittenhouse\u2019s lead defense attorney was not a fan of the Fox News film crew that followed his client. \u201cI did not approve of that. I threw them out of the room several times,\u201d Mark Richards told CNN on Friday. \u201cI don\u2019t think a film crew is appropriate for something like this.\u201d Fox News firebrand Tucker Carlson was the man behind the film crew, which put together a \u201cbehind the scenes\u201d documentary of the Rittenhouse trial. Carlson announced the doc shortly after Rittenhouse\u2019s acquittal, alongside the news that he\u2019d be interviewing the 18-year-old. Richards explained that people funding Rittenhouse\u2019s defense and the experts who testified were behind the film crew, and that he didn\u2019t always have final say on their access. \u201cI don\u2019t want to say (it was a necessary) evil, but a definite distraction was part of it,\u201d Richards told CNN. \u201cI didn\u2019t approve of it but I\u2019m not always the boss.\u201d Richards said Rittenhouse and his family had final say on the access Carlson\u2019s film crew would get. Richards spearheaded the defense of Rittenhouse at trial, successfully arguing that the teen acted in self defense when he fatally shot two people and injured a third on Aug.25,2020, in Kenosha, Wis. Rittenhouse\u2019s victims \u2014 Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber and Gaige Grosskreutz \u2014 were part of a Black Lives Matter protest in the city after a Kenosha cop shot Jacob Blake, a 27-year-old Black man, seven times in the back. The lawyer knows Rittenhouse will have many opportunities from conservative causes. \u201cI had a talk with Kyle. All I can say is what I say and Kyle is going to have some hard choices in his life about the direction he goes and what he stands for. Those will have to be made by Kyle, eventually,\u201d Richards said. He added that Rittenhouse would have to learn to \u201ctake responsibility and to tell people no.\u201d Carlson\u2019s interview with Rittenhouse is set to air Monday night.<\/p>\n
