The national superstore announced Monday that its doors will remain closed on Thanksgiving, continuing a move made last year during the pandemic to cut off huge crowds. \u201cWhat started as a temporary measure driven by the pandemic is now our new standard \u2013 one that recognizes our ability to deliver on our guests\u2019 holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours,\u201d CEO Brian Cornell said in an email to employees. \u201cYou don\u2019t have to wonder whether this is the last Thanksgiving you\u2019ll spend with family and friends for a while, because Thanksgiving store hours are one thing we won\u2019t \u2018get back to\u2019 when the pandemic finally subsides.\u201d Walmart, Aldi and Trader Joe\u2019s are among other chains that have announced plans to stay closed on Thursday. Despite the rise and ease of online shopping, Black Friday has continued drifting backwards into Thanksgiving Day, with some deals beginning before the turkey\u2019s even out of the oven.<\/p>\n
