\nFormer NFL running back Zac Stacy allegedly told police his ex-girlfriend staged a video showing him attacking her in front of their five-month-old son. Stacy’s ex-girlfriend Kristin Evans accused him of brutally assaulting her on November 13. Video of the alleged assault showed him picking her up and tossing her into a television and a baby walker as she is seen begging him to stop, according to TMZ. He was arrested less than one week later on November 18 after arriving at Orlando International Airport from Nashville. A video of the arrest obtained by TMZ showed him claiming to the police officers that the accusations against him are a \u00ab\u00a0case of just bitterness.\u00a0\u00bb He claimed Evans is \u00ab\u00a0bitter\u00a0\u00bb because he did not want to continue a romantic relationship with her and that she \u00ab\u00a0staged\u00a0\u00bb the assault, though he also told officers the way he reacted was \u00ab\u00a0f**ked up.\u00a0\u00bb He said: \u00ab\u00a0I don’t know what man\u2014how any man could have handled that situation.\u00a0\u00bb \u00ab\u00a0The whole assault thing, she staged it,\u00a0\u00bb he told officers. Throughout the video, he claimed Evans was trying to \u00ab\u00a0get money\u00a0\u00bb out of him and \u00ab\u00a0trying to just destroy my whole reputation.\u00a0\u00bb \u00ab\u00a0She got a reaction out of me,\u00a0\u00bb he said. He claimed she knew he was struggling mentally at the time of the alleged assault. \u00ab\u00a0She knew I was down, she knew I was going through anxiety and depression. She knew I was trying to close this gap that’s between me and my son and she’s just upset that she got caught and she’s upset I’m not taking care of him like she expected,\u00a0\u00bb he said in the video. \u00ab\u00a0And now she took it this far.\u00a0\u00bb Since the attack, Evans has filed a restraining order against Stacy, according to CNN. She told WOFL-TV, an Orlando-based television news station, in an interview that Stacy feels \u00ab\u00a0justified\u00a0\u00bb in her actions and that she went public with the alleged assault so that her case would not go overlooked. \u00ab\u00a0There’s nothing that anyone could do to justify something like that,\u00a0\u00bb she told the news station. Stacy was released from jail in November after posting $10,000 bail, NBC Sports reported. Evans and her attorney said they disagreed with the decision. He faces up to 15 years for aggravated assault and up to five years for criminal mischief. Stacy previously played in the NFL, being drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2013 and later playing for the New York Jets, as well. A spokesperson for the Orlando Police Department confirmed to Newsweek that they fulfilled a public information request for the body cam footage to TMZ. Newsweek reached out to the Orlando Police Department and attorneys for both Stacy and Evans for comment.<\/p>\n
