Huawei has announced that it will launch a device called the P50 Pocket next week. Is this a clamshell foldable?<\/b>
\nHuawei launched the P50 series in China earlier this year, offering the standard P50 and the P50 Pro. But it turns out that the company has a new addition to the P50 series that will be revealed next week. Huawei confirmed on social media today that it will be holding a December 23 event for the Huawei P50 Pocket, taking place at 8:30 AM CET (2:30 AM ET). It added that the device is \u201ccompact yet powerful.\u201d You can view the screenshot of the tweet below. It all makes us wonder what Huawei could have up its sleeve for next week. The name suggests we\u2019re looking at either a compact flagship akin to the Asus Zenfone 8 or a Galaxy Z Flip-style foldable \u2014 the image in the event poster makes us think it could be a latter. Rumors regarding a so-called Mate V clamshell foldable have been floating around for a while now too. More recently, images posted by tipsters Digital Chat Station and Rodent950 suggest the phone will have two circular cutouts. It\u2019s believed that one cutout will be a P50-style camera housing while the other could be for a cover display. All will be revealed next week, although one sure thing is that it won\u2019t have Google support owing to the ongoing US trade ban. Still, we thought the Mate X2 was a fantastic product from a hardware perspective, so we have high hopes for the Huawei P50 Pocket in this regard.<\/p>\n
