<!--DEBUG:--><!--DEBUG:dc3-united-states-mix-in-english-pdf-2--><!--DEBUG:--><!--DEBUG:dc3-united-states-mix-in-english-pdf-2--><!--DEBUG-spv-->{"id":2503451,"date":"2023-05-07T16:31:36","date_gmt":"2023-05-07T14:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nhub.news\/?p=2503451"},"modified":"2023-05-07T23:07:35","modified_gmt":"2023-05-07T21:07:35","slug":"its-coronation-weekend-so-i-honored-king-charles-with-150-gnomes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nhub.news\/fr\/2023\/05\/its-coronation-weekend-so-i-honored-king-charles-with-150-gnomes\/","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s coronation weekend \u2013 so I honored King Charles with 150 gnomes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Array<\/b><br \/>\nIt takes a village \u2013 of gnomes.<br \/>Nikki Potter, 55, has created an elaborate tribute for King Charles\u2019 coronation this weekend, putting 150 gnomes on display in her own front garden for the public to see, according to South West News Service. <br \/>The London woman wanted to do something special to mark the historic event, so she took out her collection of figurines that she\u2019s been building since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and gave them a royal twist. <br \/>In her intricate display, she featured a king and queen \u2013 presumably King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla \u2013 complete with bejeweled crows on their heads and a sign above them that read, \u201cThree cheers for the King.\u201d <br \/>Surrounded by the royal family was a big celebration scene with the other gnomes, complete with tiny British flags and small tables filled with fake food. <br \/>She even included a figurine of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the royal guards, who were standing on the steps below Charles and Camilla. <br \/>\u201cI\u2019ve collected them for quite a long time now \u2013 I just like their faces, they make me smile,\u201d Potter told SWNS.<br \/>\u201cIts just been a lovely thing. One lady said she came every day to see the gnomes and that it makes her mind cheerful for the day.\u201d<br \/>On Saturday, the day of the coronation, Potter hosted a tea party and invited people to come and look at the gnomes in the garden. <br \/>Potter explained that she first began making different arrangements with her gnomes during the quarantine in 2020, so that kids could have something to see when they went outside.<br \/>\u201cIn the pandemic I put one gnome in the window and people would stop and look,\u201d she explained. <br \/>\u201cSo I thought I\u2019ll put two out and then three, and it carried on from there.\u201d<br \/>She even made it a daily habit to send a picture of a new gnome in the window to her church\u2019s WhatsApp group for the kids in the community. <br \/>However, Potter says that now, the gnomes only come out for special occasions \u2013 including last year, when she made even more elaborate royal displays in honors of the 75th D-day anniversary celebrations and the Queen\u2019s Jubilee.<br \/>And, when it\u2019s someone\u2019s birthday, Potter will even make banners for the gnomes to told in their hands. <br \/>Her displays are definitely unique, and it\u2019s something that has seemed to stick in her community and even help them get through the long days of lockdown. <br \/>\u201cOne little boy would come on his scooter every day with his mum and watch us put them out and I used to get up early on a Saturday morning as one family would come up on their bikes with their dad to have a look,\u201d Potter told SWNS. <br \/>\u201cI got to know a lot of people through it \u2013 people still tell me that they remember the gnomes.\u201d<br \/>On Saturday, King Charles was officially crowned as monarch in an elaborate ceremony at Westminster Abbey.<br \/>It marked the official transfer of power to him after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, this past September.<br \/>She was 96 when she died, and had reigned for 70 years.<br \/>It was a day that was definitely one for the history books, as King Charles was the\u00a0oldest king to be crowned, at 74 years old.<br \/>Many members of the royal family were in attendance, including Prince Harry, who appeared in the United Kingdom for the first time since his January tell-all memoir, \u201cSpare.\u201d<br \/>Queen Camilla\u2019s ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, also got the invite to the memorable ceremony.<br \/>But in true cheeky fashion, many of the royal children ended up stealing the show \u2013 including Prince Louis, 5, who yawned before his big entrance.<\/p>\n<script>jQuery(function(){jQuery(\".vc_icon_element-icon\").css(\"top\", \"0px\");});<\/script><script>jQuery(function(){jQuery(\"#td_post_ranks\").css(\"height\", \"10px\");});<\/script><script>jQuery(function(){jQuery(\".td-post-content\").find(\"p\").find(\"img\").hide();});<\/script>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Array It takes a village \u2013 of gnomes.Nikki Potter, 55, has created an elaborate tribute for King Charles\u2019 coronation this weekend, putting 150 gnomes on display in her own front garden for the public to see, according to South West News Service.
