Nintendo will stop selling Switch game vouchers next year, ending one of the best ways to save money on Switch first-party games<\/b>
\nNintendo announced on Thursday the company is sunsetting its Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers offer early next year. Nintendo Switch Online members will have until January 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST to take advantage of the offer. Vouchers are redeemable for up to a year after purchase.
The Game Voucher program is a great way to save on Nintendo\u2019s first-party line-up. Sold in pairs, for $100 players can receive two Vouchers redeemable in the Nintendo eShop for a myriad of games. As full-priced Switch games retail at $60 \u2014 or $70, if we\u2019re talking The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom \u2014 Game Vouchers are one of the few ways to snag Nintendo exclusives at a discounted rate.
Nintendo is notorious for rarely lowering the price of its first-party titles, and when it does put games on sale, those discounts aren\u2019t as steep as one might expect. For example, the eight-year-old Super Mario Odyssey was recently discounted from its MSRP of $60 to $40, making it an absolute bargain. Because of those rare sales, Game Vouchers have been a great way to save a bit of scratch on Nintendo\u2019s new releases.
Nintendo of Europe announced the discontinuation of the Vouchers on Thursday, but did note \u201cSwitch titles will continue to be added to the Game Voucher catalogue throughout 2026.\u201d While we don\u2019t quite know yet what games Nintendo has in store for the original Switch next year, Pok\u00e9mon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond round out Nintendo\u2019s 2025 line-up, though the latter is yet to receive a firm release date. Both titles will be available for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
This comes after the news earlier this year that Game Vouchers wouldn\u2019t be usable for Nintendo Switch 2 titles. Nintendo also ended its Gold Points program, which was another way for consumers to save a bit on eShop purchases.
