Leonardo DiCaprio insisted that he is \u00ab\u00a0emotionally\u00a0\u00bb 32 years old in a new Esquire interview amid years-long backlash over his choice to date much-younger women.<\/b>
\nOnce upon a time in Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio dropped a possible explanation for his viral dating habits.
The 50-year-old actor \u2014 who has a reputation for dating much younger women \u2014 told filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson in an Esquire interview that he feels nearly two decades younger than he actually is.
Anderson, 55, kicked off the conversation about DiCaprio\u2019s age by urging him to answer, \u201cas quickly as\u201d he could, \u201cIf you didn\u2019t know how old you are, how old are you right now?\u201d
When DiCaprio replied, \u201cThirty-two,\u201d Anderson wondered whether turning 50 had been a \u201cnatural time for reflection.\u201d
The \u201cTitanic\u201d star quipped that he \u201cturned emotionally 35 last year.\u201d
Anderson joked, \u201cYour age is 50, but your emotional maturity is 32. How does that feel?\u201d
The Oscar winner went on to explain how his perspective has shifted since marking the milestone birthday in November 2024.
\u201cYou have a desire to just be more honest and not waste your time. You have to just be much more upfront,\u201d DiCaprio noted.
\u201cIt\u2019s almost a responsibility because much more of your life is behind you than it is ahead of you.\u201d
DiCaprio added that this mindset comes with \u201crisking having things fall apart,\u201d as well as potential \u201cdisagreements\u201d or \u201cgoing your separate ways in any type of relationship in life \u2014 the personal, professional.\u201d
He believes this will only increase as \u201cthe next few decades \u2026 progress.\u201d
The Golden Globe winner said, \u201cI look at my mother, for example, and she just says exactly what she thinks and wastes no time. She spends no time trying to fake it.\u201d
The \u201cRevenant\u201d star, who discussed many of his movie roles elsewhere in the interview, has been dating girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti since 2023.
Prior to his romance with the 27-year-old model, DiCaprio was linked to Gigi Hadid, Camila Morrone, Nina Agdal, Toni Garrn and more.
