HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES A \u00ab\u00a0Nightmare\u00a0\u00bb on Hollywood Boulevard involves the Walk of Fame! Actor Robert Englund has enjoyed a successful career for more than four decades. But now at a happily horrific ceremony, Englund saw his star unveiled in front of hundreds of adoring fans.
Making it big in Hollywood takes a lot of work. And Englund \u00ab\u00a0clawed\u00a0\u00bb his way to the top, thanks to his signature character Freddie Krueger from \u00ab\u00a0A Nightmare on Elm Street.\u00a0\u00bb
For this special ceremony, Englund and his fans turned the Hollywood Walk of Fame into the \u00ab\u00a0Walk of Maim.\u00a0\u00bb
\u00ab\u00a0I’m on my third generation of fans now. I’ve just accumulated this great fan base and for an old dog like me, that’s really great\u00a0\u00bb, said Englund.
It’s been 41 years since Englund first starred in 1985’s \u00ab\u00a0A Nightmare on Elm Street.\u00a0\u00bb That bloody gore film sparked seven more sequels. and launched Freddie Krueger to the top of the horror royalty list.
\u00ab\u00a0If you ask any fan around the world today ‘Who are the horror icons?’ They’ll say Freddie, Jason, Michael, Ghostface, Chucky and now Art the Clown, probably in that order. Freddie is always first! Always!\u00a0\u00bb said filmmaker Eli Roth.
Of course, if the man who made Freddie Krueger famous is going to get a star on the walk of fame, it really can only happen on one day of the year. And this Halloween timing was not lost on this overflow crowd of fans.
\u00ab\u00a0For the best horror icon of all time, you couldn’t write that script any better\u00a0\u00bb, said Adrian Preziado.
Much like Freddie, the film killer’s popularity is hard to kill. Fans like Rob Atchley ready to stand-in for Englund should another sequel bust out.
\u00ab\u00a0I probably have got over a $1,000 invested into it, but the hat, I made the hat myself\u00a0\u00bb, said Rob Atchley.
As for Englund, at 78 years old, he doesn’t see another Freddie Krueger film in his future. but hey – he’s already made the cut as an actor\/slasher.<\/p>\n
