Although both eyes were affected, he ultimately lost sight in his right. <br \/>Although the infection has hindered the Grammy winner\u2019s ability to see, John hasn\u2019t given up hope about eventually regaining his vision.<br \/>\u201cI\u2019ve had the most incredible life, and there is hope,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cI\u2019ve just gotta be patient, that someday science will help me with this one. Once they help me with this one, I\u2019ll be fine.\u201d<br \/>\u201cYou mustn\u2019t give up hope, you must be stoic, you must be strong and you must always try and batter the door down to try and improve things,\u201d the \u201cI\u2019m Still Standing\u201d crooner, who previously underwent a double knee replacement, added.<br \/>The EGOT winner went on to express gratitude that he can still sing and play the piano before thanking his family for supporting him amid his various health problems.<br \/>John entered a civil partnership with his longtime partner, David Furnish, in 2005. The pair later married in 2014, and have since welcomed sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12.<br \/>\u201cI mean, you just have to grin and bear it. It does get me down sometimes,\u201d he shared. \u201cBut on the whole, I\u2019ve got a wonderful family; I have two great kids; I have [Furnish].\u201d<br \/>John also credited some of his famous rockstar friends with helping him along the way as well.<br \/>\u201cPaul McCartney FaceTimes me to see how I\u2019m doing. It\u2019s really beautiful,\u201d he said. \u201cThe love I\u2019ve received from him and from Pete Townshend and Mick Jagger and people like that has been amazing.\u201d<br \/>\u201cOr you get an email from Keith Richards saying, \u2018Hello, darling, how are you doing? You know we love you,\u2019 and that\u2019s it, but it just makes my day,\u201d the \u201cRocket Man\u201d singer concluded.<br \/>The music legend revealed the shocking news about his vision in a statement on Instagram in September 2024.<br \/>\u201cOver the summer, I\u2019ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,\u201d he shared with fans at the time.<br \/>\u201cI am healing,\u201d John added, \u201cbut it\u2019s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.\u201d<br \/>Months later, the \u201cCrocodile Rock\u201d crooner opened up about how his partial lack of vision has affected his relationship with his husband and sons.<br \/>\u201cI can see you, but I can\u2019t see TV, I can\u2019t read,\u201d John told The Times of London in April. \u201cI can\u2019t see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I\u2019m used to soaking it all up.\u201d<br \/>\u201cYou get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I\u2019m lucky to have the life I have,\u201d he continued. \u201cI still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of [my left eye].
