Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mom, was fatally shot in the head by and ICE agent in Minneapolis Wednesday<\/b>
\nLeading Democrats\u2019 virulent anti-ICE rhetoric ramped up Thursday \u2014 the day after a Minneapolis mom was killed by an immigration officer \u2014 with Gov. Hochul chiming in that she once confronted a federal agent, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey doubling own on his calls for federal agents to \u201cget the f\u2013k out\u201d of town.
Gov. Tim Walz, meanwhile, activated the Minnesota National Guard and complained about the FBI taking over the investigation from Minnesota.
He also claimed \u201cthe tragedy will be magnified 100-fold,\u201d if ICE \u201cviolence\u201d enters local schools.
The comments come as anti-ICE protests have raged in Minneapolis, New York and other cities \u2014 with hundreds filling the streets first-thing Thursday to march against the killing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old activist shot in the head by a federal agent after she veered her car toward him.
Those demonstrations started almost immediately after the shooting and demanded ICE abandon its sweeping operations in the city, with Mayor Frey making no effort to hide his support for cause within hours.
\u201cTo ICE, get the f\u2013k out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here,\u201d he said in a fiery press conference Wednesday.
On Thursday, he refused to dial his tone back after conservatives accused him of provoking tensions.
\u201cI\u2019m so sorry if I offended their Disney princess ears, but here\u2019s the thing \u2014 if we\u2019re talking about what\u2019s inflammatory, on one hand you got someone who dropped an f-bomb, and you got someone who killed somebody else,\u201d he told CNN Wednesday night.
\u201cI think the most inflammatory action is killing somebody. And so once again, let\u2019s be real and just honest and straight up about what\u2019s happening here. This is not okay,\u201d he added.
Across the country in New York, Gov. Hochul weighed in during an MS NOW\u2019s \u201cMorning Joe\u201d Thursday to share a story about once haranguing an ICE agent who was working in Lower Manhattan \u2014 telling how she accused him of terrorizing people.
\u201cI said, \u2018Why do you wear a mask? No other law enforcement does this, our police don\u2019t do it, our FBI agents don\u2019t do it, why are you doing this?’\u201d Hochul said.
\u201cThey said, \u2018Because we get doxed, our family gets harassed, etc.\u2019 I said, \u2018Why do you think you are more than anybody else?’\u201d she said. \u201c\u2018Come on, you\u2019re just trying to terrorize people.’\u201d
As those comments flew from all corners of the left, images of chaos continued to flow out of Minneapolis as throngs of protestors clashed with law enforcement.
One of the protests gathered outside the federal Whipple Building Downtown, where people chanted anti-ICE slogans. Federal agents in tactical gear were eventually deployed to disperse the crowd.
In the face of such rhetoric, Vice President Vance took to the White House podium Thursday and told people to \u201cstop assaulting and inciting violence against law enforcement,\u201d calling Good\u2019s death \u201ctragedy of the making of the far-left.\u201d
Vance claimed the protests were part of a \u201cbroader left-wing network\u201d and a \u201cgroup of left-wing radicals\u201d who were \u201cworking tirelessly \u2026 using domestic terror techniques,\u201d to impede President Trump\u2019s agenda.
The vice president\u2019s comments came soon after Walz accused Trump of sabotaging the investigation into Good\u2019s death, saying it would be \u201cvery, very difficult that we will get a fair outcome,\u201d and that the White House was spreading \u201cverifiably false claims\u201d about the shooting.
Walz also demanded that ICE \u201cstay out of our schools\u201d after agents clashed with protestors near a Minneapolis High School.
\u201cThe tragedy will be magnified 100-fold if the violence enters [our schools],\u201d Walz cautioned, while also encouraging the protestors to remain peaceful and avoid giving Trump \u201can excuse to put more troops on the ground.\u201d
Some Democrats, however, called for cool heads to prevail on both sides of the aisle.
\u201cIt\u2019s probably always more helpful to turn the temperature down and just withhold the kinds of extremes,\u201d US Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) told reporters after the shooting.
\u201cLet\u2019s everybody turn the temperature down, honestly, whether that\u2019s coming from some kinds of rhetoric from Secretary Noem or the President or the mayor or governor,\u201d he added.
\u201cLet\u2019s just turn down the temperature. And we can\u2019t forget someone\u2019s lost their life and now we have to investigate the circumstances, because that should never happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
