Taylor Swift slammed \u00ab\u00a0It Ends With Us\u00a0\u00bb director Justin Baldoni as a \u00ab\u00a0bitch\u00a0\u00bb in alleged text messages exchanged between the singer and the film’s star Blake Lively.<\/b>
\nTaylor Swift slammed \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d director Justin Baldoni as a \u201cbitch\u201d in text messages exchanged between the singer and the film\u2019s star, Blake Lively.
According to court documents obtained and viewed by TheWrap, Swift discussed Baldoni with Lively in texts from December 2024, just before the New York Times\u2019 explosive article dropped and detailed the \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d actress\u2019 sexual harassment allegations against the director \u2014 as well as the alleged smear campaign that she believed was coordinated against her.
Per the filing, Swift wrote to Lively, \u201cI think this bitch knows something is coming because he\u2019s gotten out his tiny violin.\u201d Alongside the message, the singer shared a link to a People story, titled \u201cJustin Baldoni Reveals He Was Sexually Traumatized by an Ex-Girlfriend When He Was \u2018Hoping to Save Myself for Marriage.\u2019\u201d
After Lively informed Swift that Baldoni was set to be honored at a women\u2019s event, the \u201cFate of Ophelia\u201d artist added, \u201cThis is so disgusting and I hate that he\u2019s clever about this s\u2013t.\u201d
She later suggested that Baldoni needed \u201cto be beaten by his OWN words.\u201d
Swift appeared to ask Lively if \u201ceverything\u201d was \u201cstill on track,\u201d seemingly referring to the latter\u2019s legal complaint against Baldoni, which she filed Dec. 20, 2024 before formally suing the actor-director on New Year\u2019s Eve.
\u201cHis own words, that\u2019s gonna be powerful,\u201d Swift wrote to Lively. \u201cIt\u2019s the only way to beat liars and hypocrites.\u201d
Lively responded: \u201cCan you imagine feeling as confident as these predators that you\u2019re going to always get away with it? Him accepting an award as an ally for women.\u201d
Swift compared the situation to \u201ca horror film no one knows is taking place.\u201d
This was not the first time that Swift and Lively discussed Baldoni, however. In messages from April 2023, Lively asked Swift to help her with \u201cthis doofus director,\u201d referring to Baldoni.
As Lively went on, she asked Swift to tell Baldoni that she was excited for the on-screen adaptation of \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d and that she was \u201cfreaking out over the pages I sent you.\u201d
\u201cI\u2019ll send you the scene. You don\u2019t have to read, of course,\u201d she continued. \u201cHe\u2019s a clown and thinks he\u2019s a writer now and got this rewrite and told me he appreciates my passion.\u201d
Per the filing, Swift replied, \u201cI\u2019ll do anything for you!!\u201d
Later on, Lively appeared to praise Swift for being \u201cepically heroic,\u201d adding, \u201cI recapped every moment to Ryan [Reynolds]. I kept remembering stuff\u2014You making s\u2013t up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it.\u201d
Baldoni notably countersued Lively and Reynolds in January 2025, in which he alleged extortion and defamation. He also called out Swift in his countersuit, claiming Lively involved the Grammy winner as a way to pressure him while they made \u201cIt Ends With Us.\u201d
Swift stayed largely silent amid the drama. Yet, when Baldoni\u2019s lawyer attempted subpoena Swift to give a deposition, the singer\u2019s rep defended that she \u201cwas not involved\u201d in the making of \u201cIt Ends With Us.\u201d
\u201cTaylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,\u201d a spokesperson for Swift said at the time, \u201cshe did not even see \u2018It Ends With Us\u2019 until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.\u201d
The spokesperson continued: \u201cThe connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, \u2018My Tears Ricochet.\u2019 Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift\u2019s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.\u201d<\/p>\n
