Thomas Moss, 43, Blake Smith, 32, and Amanda Milsap, 45, from Lafayette, and Raylen Ferguson, 38, and Zenada Greer, 61, both of Lexington, Ky., and are in custody facing a litany of charges days after Tippecanoe County Judge Steven Meyer and Kim Meyer were shot through the door of their Lafayette house.
No motive has been given for the shooting \u2014 but Moss has an active case in Meyer\u2019s court with counts that include domestic violence, intimidation and being a violent felon carrying a weapon, according to Indiana court records reviewed by the Journal & Courier.
Judge Meyer, 66, was shot in the arm, and Kim was shot in the hip, cops said. They are still recovering at a local hospital.
A 911 caller reported that someone knocked on the door and claimed they had the couple\u2019s dog before a shot blasted through the door, according to a recording of 911 dispatch audio.
Moss, Ferguson and Smith were each arrested on charges including attempted murder, aggravated battery and intimidation with a deadly weapon, with gang and firearm enhancements, according to police.
Police also listed Moss and Smith as \u201chabitual offenders.\u201d
Milsap was charged with bribery and obstruction of justice and Greer was charged with assisting a criminal and obstruction of justice.
\u201cThese arrests are the result of a comprehensive, collaborative effort among multiple agencies,\u201d the Lafayette Police Department said in a statement.
There were no recorded incidents of previous threats against Meyer or any 911 calls from his residence, police said.
Judge Meyer said the harrowing attack would not scare him off the bench.
\u201cThis horrific violence will not shake my belief in the importance of peacefully resolving disputes,\u201d he said. \u201cI remain confident we have the best judicial system in the world, and I am proud to be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
