Donald Trump revived his push to impose tariffs on foreign-made films to resuscitate Hollywood, while also floating new \u00ab\u00a0low-interest bonds\u00a0\u00bb to boost local production.<\/b>

\u201cI\u2019m going to be putting tariffs on movies from outside of the country,\u201d the president told The California Post in an interview shared Monday. \u201cIf they\u2019re made in Canada, if they\u2019re made in all these places, because Los Angeles has lost the movie industry.\u201d
He added: \u201cAnd so I\u2019m going to put tariffs on and we\u2019re going to be doing bonds, some bonds, some low-interest bonds, for the movie industry. We\u2019ll bring it back.\u201d
While the president didn\u2019t share specifics with the outlet, he did assure the Post that he knows \u201ca lot of people in that industry,\u201d adding, \u201cAnd they said, \u2018We are dying not to go to Canada, not to go to Australia, not to go to places that take 20 hours on an airplane. \u2026 We would love to do it in Los Angeles,\u2019 and I\u2019ll be getting that.\u201d
This is not the first time Trump has vowed to take action to make Hollywood \u201cgreat again,\u201d though, he\u2019s yet to follow through with his plan.
In May, he took to Truth Social and wrote, \u201cThe Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death.\u201d As he went on, he complained that other countries \u201care offering all sorts of incentives to draw\u201d filmmakers and studios away from making films stateside.
\u201cThis is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat,\u201d he added at the time. \u201cIt is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!\u201d
He expressed a similar sentiment in September, claiming he would would impose \u201ca 100% tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States,\u201d after lamenting that the movie industry had \u201cbeen stolen\u201d from Hollywood.<\/p>\n
