The show is the second MCU Disney+ original series to fall under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which identifies the series as a grounded, character-driven part of the larger Marvel Universe, sharing continuity with the films and prior shows without requiring any in-depth knowledge of things that came before it. \u201cShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings\u201d director Destin Daniel Cretton is one of the creative forces behind \u201cWonder Man\u201d alongside showrunner and sitcom vet Andrew Guest.
\u201cWonder Man\u201d follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), an actor and superpowered individual hiding his powers in hopes of getting cast in a reboot of \u201cWonder Man.\u201d It\u2019s all very meta and seems to poke fun at the superhero genre.
Also hoping to be cast in \u201cWonder Man\u201d is Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley), a failing actor who appeared as the face of the Mandarin in \u201cIron Man 3\u201d and returned in \u201cShang-Chi.\u201d
