The US president said he wants a \u2018very honourable and honest investigation\u2019 into the shooting death of ICU nurse Alex Pretti.<\/b>
\nUS President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would \u201cde-escalate a little bit\u201d in Minneapolis, amid a backlash over the killings of two people by federal immigration agents.
\u201cWe\u2019re going to de-escalate a little bit,\u201d Trump told Fox News after he sent his border tsar Tom Homan to the city and was expected to pull out hardline Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino.
Trump said Bovino was \u201cvery good, but he\u2019s a pretty out there kind of a guy\u201d, while saying of his shake-up in Minneapolis: \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a pullback, it\u2019s a little bit of a change.\u201d
Homan met with officials in Minneapolis, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, as the US president struggled with damage control after the fatal shootings.
\u201cI hear things are going very nicely,\u201d Trump said.
The US president told reporters that he rejected the \u201cassassin\u201d label used by a top aide to describe 37-year-old protester Alex Pretti, who was shot at point-blank range over the weekend.<\/p>\n
