Google today announced that it is releasing the second Developer Preview build of Android Things, which is the company’s upcoming operating system for Internet of Things devices.<\/b>
Almost two months ago, Google announced Android Things , an OS that’s aimed at providing IoT devices with the power of Android. Today, the company released the second Developer Preview build of the OS.
The new Preview contains a number of new features, such as adding support for USB Audio to the Hardware Abstraction Layer for the Intel Edison and Raspberry Pi 3. Support for Intel’s Joule was also added, and that includes the USB Audio.
The Native PIO library is now supported in the Android Native Development Kit (NDK), which will provide access to peripheral I\/O from C\/C++ code. This adds on top of a feature that was included in the original Developer Preview, which was the ability to create user drivers.
There are a couple other features as well, such as an included sample that demonstrates TensorFlow on devices that run the OS, and Peripheral manager reporting.
