The Columbus Blue Jackets signed center Alex Broadhurst on Friday to a one-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract extension through the 2017-18 season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets signed center Alex Broadhurst on Friday to a one-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract extension through the 2017-18 season.
Broadhurst, 24, posted 11 goals, 14 assists and 23 penalty minutes in 52 games with the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters this past season. He finished tied for seventh on the team in goals, assists and points (25) .
The Orland Park, Ill., native owns 120 points (43 goals, 77 assists) and 73 penalty minutes in 216 career AHL games with the Monsters and Rockford IceHogs. He also has recorded three goals, 10 assists and eight penalty minutes in 24 career AHL playoff games, including three goals and nine assists in 17 contests to help the Monsters capture the 2016 Calder Cup.
Broadhurst was originally a seventh-round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2011 NHL draft. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets as part of a trade on June 30,2015.
