The Mets scored a run in each of the last two innings, culminating with Jose Reyes’ walk-off infield single to give them a 3-2 win.
After trailing by a run heading into the bottom of the eighth, the Mets scored a run in each of the last two innings, culminating with Jose Reyes’ walk-off infield single to give them a 3-2 victory Thursday afternoon over the Cardinals.
Reyes hit a grounder to first baseman Luke Voit who was playing deep at first, and he was too far to run to first. Pitcher Trevor Rosenthal couldn’ t get over in time and Reyes slid into first to win the game.
Michael Conforto, who reached base in all four of his plate appearances, led the bottom of the ninth off with a walk. Yoenis Cespedes then grounded into a fielder’s choice before Lucas Duda flew out to right. T. J. Rivera’s single put Cespedes on third before Reyes’ hit.
Wilmer Flores tied the game with a pinch-hit, solo home run in the eighth inning off Brett Cecil, his eighth homer of the season and first since June 24.
