Mueller Interviews White House Aide Stephen Miller in Russia Probe

Miller questioned about his role in President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.
Top White House adviser Stephen Miller was interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian investigation team, according to multiple reports.
The interview with Miller, the highest-level aide still at the White House known to have talked to investigators, shows Mueller’s investigation continuing to reach deeper into President Donald Trump’s inner circle at the White House.
Among the topics discussed during the interview, which touched on possible obstruction of justice, included Miller’s role in the president firing FBI Director James Comey in May, according to CNN .
One particular point of interest for Mueller’s team may lie in that Miller reportedly assisted Trump in drafting a memo explaining why he planned to fire Comey.
According to The New York Times, however, that memo was scrapped after White House counsel Don McGahn said its contents were problematic.
Mueller’s team also recently scheduled an interview with longtime Trump aide and current White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, which is set to take place once the president returns from his trip to Asia.
The ongoing probe into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election produced its first indictments in late October, with both former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and campaign deputy Rick Gates charged on 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States.
While the charges don’t stem from actions taken during the 2016 election, it may point to the investigation ramping up with more charges to follow.
