The Samsung Galaxy S9’s retail box picture reveals a 12MP camera with OIS and F1.5 apertureu, AKG-tuned stereo speakers, iris scanner, and water resistance.
Samsung has confirmed that it will launch its next-generation flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, next month at the MWC 2018 exhibition in Barcelona, Spain. These details were revealed by the company’s Co-CEO DJ Koh, who also confirmed that the launch date of the handset will be announced at the same event. Now, we have a look at the retail box of the Galaxy S9, revealing the specifications of the device ahead of its official launch next month. Going by the leaked specifications of the Galaxy S9, we can clearly say that the smartphone will offer great camera and audio quality.
The alleged retail box, which has appeared on the internet, reveals that the Galaxy S9 will have a 12-megapixel camera with dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS). Furthermore, it might also be the first flagship Android smartphone with a variable aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4. The box also reveals that the rear-faciang shooter will offer “Super Slow-mo” videos recording at 960 frames per second, similar to the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the Xperia XZ1. It could feature an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will also (finally) come with stereo speakers which are tuned by AKG, an audio brand which is now owned by Samsung. The phone will also continue using the iris scanner, IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, and wireless charging support, which we saw in the Galaxy S7 duo in 2016 and in the Galaxy S8 duo in 2017. The phone will have a 5.8-inch Infinity Display with a Super AMOLED screen, rounded corners, and curved edges. The phone will come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and the company’s Knox security solution, in true Samsung fashion.
The leaked retail box of the Samsung Galaxy S9 also mentions that it will come packed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Over the past few days, we had already reported the RAM and storage configurations of the device, stating that the S9 will also have a 128GB storage variant. The Galaxy S9+ on the other hand is expected to come with 6GB of RAM with four storage variants: 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. However, the 512GB storage option is considered to be available in limited quantities and in selected regions.
In the US and the Chinese markets, Samsung will use the recently unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, while in India and other markets, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will use the Samsung Exynos 9810 chipset. With the release of these smartphones slated to happen next month at MWC 2018, we are quite sure of learning many more details, including its price and launch dates.
