Jan. 10 (UPI) — Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is all for Tiger Woods ‘ latest comeback effort.
Woods’ former girlfriend recently did an interview with Sports Illustrated, where she discussed her relationship with Woods and what it was like being in the public eye during and after their highly-publicized union.
The 42-year-old golfer is attempting another comeback in 2018, after being thwarted by chronic back injuries. His latest effort comes on the heels of a fourth back surgery.
Woods tied for ninth place in December’s Hero World Challenge, exciting golf fans. He penned a blog post a few weeks later, saying that he has taken his progress «to another level.» He also said he wants to play a full schedule in 2018.
On Jan. 4, Woods committed to play in the 2018 Genesis Open and the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.
Vonn, who dated Woods for two years before the couple broke it off in 2015, says she was in love with him and they are still friends.
«Sometimes, I wish he would have listened to me a little more, but he’s very stubborn and he likes to go his own way,» Vonn told Sports Illustrated . «I hope this latest comeback sticks. I hope he goes back to winning tournaments.»
The Farmers Insurance Open is from Jan. 25 to Jan. 28 at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif. The Genesis Open is from Feb. 12 to Feb. 18 at the Riviera Country Club, where Woods made his PGA Tour debut in 1992.
Vonn, 33, has 78 World Cup victories and two Olympic medals in her trophy case. In February, she will compete in the downhill, Super G and combined events in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
