Police are investigating two reports of counterfeit money being used in Ypsilanti this week.
YPSILANTI, MI — Police are investigating two reports of counterfeit money being used in Ypsilanti this week.
The first incident was reported 6:27 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 in the 1100 block of Lumber Drive, according to the Ypsilanti Police Department.
A man reported receiving $2,100 of counterfeit money when he sold his car, police said.
Three minutes after the fraudulent car sale was reported, police received another call — this time in the 10 block of Ecorse Road, police said.
A suspect attempted to purchase food with a fake $100 bill, police said.
Information on suspects in either incident was not immediately available.
Ypsilanti police Lt. Deric Gress declined to comment further on the specific cases while the investigations are ongoing.
