Vendors offer information and products
Lisa Sears said she was having a good time Saturday during the free Living «WELL» Expo sponsored by the Times Herald at the Blue Water Convention Center in Port Huron.
«I liked it,» the Port Huron woman said. «Everything that they had was interesting, and I liked the raffles that they had.
«Everything was pleasant and nice smelling.»
She was at the expo with Char and Nick Dietrich, also from Port Huron.
«What they had to offer was very informative,»: Char Dietrich said. «It was very interesting. The people were very nice to talk with.
«And those teas were amazing!»
Diane Hulett, of Riley Township, offers a variety of tea through her business, Tealightful. She was one of the vendors at Saturday’s expo.
«I bring tea to your neighborhood in the form of in-home tea tastings, in-office tea tastings — wherever you already meet,» she said, while offering samples and answering questions.
«It’s a great opportunity to be here and offer people something new,» she said.
The expo, she said, gave her business more exposure to potentoal customers.
«I enjoy meeting people and just sharing tea,» she said. «Tea is meant to be shared, and that’s what I’m doing.»
Joey Lentine came from Stockbridge, near Lansing, to share her homemade baked goods and chocolates. Her business is called Great Lakes Bakes.
«My friend invited me,» she said. «We usually do markets together, so I decided to come, too.»
She said she was enjoying Port Huron and the venue along the St. Clair River.
«I’ve never been on this side of town,» she said. «It’s beautiful.»
Alyce Thompson, of Southfield, was the friend who persuaded Lentine to give Port Huron a try. She was selling «a little bit of everything, from soaps to body powders to lip balms, sugar scrubs and natural hand sanitizers.
She said there was plenty of interest for her business, Alyson Natural Products.
«This is my third event here at the convention center, and so far so good,» she said.
The event was billed as a way to give people in the area options about how to live well. Lori Gougeon, Times Herald sales manager, said about 150 people came through the doors in the first hour and a half Saturday to talk with vendors and learn more about topics including health and nutrition.
«The feedback is they are excited that we are offering this kind of event,» she said.
