Xiaomi removes cash-on-delivery payment option for Redmi Note 5 Pro buyers

At the time of writing, we can confirm that the COD option has been removed from the Redmi Note 5/ Redmi Note 5 Pro listings on Flipkart as well as Mi.com.
In a move to stop retailers from reselling the company’s recently launched Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi today stated that it will no longer offer Cash-on-Delivery (COD) as a valid payment option for buying the phone.
In a post by the company on its Community forum, Xiaomi stated that the payment option will be removed from its next flash sale which is due to take place at 12 pm on 7 March 2018. The company also stated that the changes will reflect on both Flipkart and Mi.com.
At the time of writing this report, we can confirm that the option has been removed from product listings on Flipkart as well as Mi.com.
Based on an older report, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro have sold like hot cakes, going out of stock within minutes in its first sale. However, it seems like buyers have been complaining that they are unable to get their hands on the device as soon as they would like.
As far as pricing of the devices goes, the Redmi Note 5 is available in two variants — a 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage variant priced at Rs 9,999 and a 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant which costs Rs 11,999.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro will also be available in two variants, a 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant which is priced at Rs 13,999 and a 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant which cost Rs 16,999.
While both the phones were available in Black and Gold colour options only in the first two flash sales, tomorrow’s sale will also feature the Lake Blue colour option for both devices.
