Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) gave a full-throated endorsement of rising hip-hop star Cardi B on Wednesday — at least in terms of her reverence for former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his legacy of Social Security.
Sanders made the declaration in response to a recent interview Cardi B, born Belcalis Almanzar, gave to GQ magazine. Discussing her passion for American history, specifically the presidents, Cardi B singled out Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the one she loved most.
“First of all, he helped us get over the Depression, all while he was in a wheelchair,” she explained. «Like, this man was suffering from polio at the time of his presidency, and yet all he was worried about was trying to make America great — make America great again for real .
