The artist tweeted that he was having visa issues.
At around 1 p.m. on Saturday of weekend one, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival officially announced that Nigerian musician Wizkid would not be able to make it to the United States to perform.
He was set to play Saturday from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Coachella Stage. The festival didn’t elaborate on the reasons why he couldn’t make it on time, but the artist tweeted earlier in the day that his band was having visa issues.
He’s not the first international Coachella act to have difficulties getting into the country. In 2017, French rap duo PNL ran into visa issues and missed their set on the festival’s first weekend. The late Amy Winehouse had to cancel her 2009 Coachella performance because she couldn’t get a work Visa.
Wizkid started making music in 2001, and his latest record “Sounds from the Other Side” came out in June 2017. He’s also most known for helping write and produce Drake’s hit song “One Dance.”
The short notice definitely upset some fans.
