The first-ever Temecula Blues Festival comes to Old Town on Saturday, April 21.
The Temecula Blues Festival got its start when Andy Doty, who runs the Old Town Blues Club, had a simple idea: Why not?
“First of all, I have a deep love and affection for blues music,” Doty said about his motivation to tackle a music festival. “I looked around and noticed several Southern California cities have blues festivals, so why not Temecula? We are becoming a mecca for great music.”
The inaugural event will fill the plaza in front of Temecula’s Civic Center with music, fun and food on Saturday, April 21.
Doty said he thinks the festival will sell out, as they have sold 800 of 1,000 available tickets as of Tuesday, April 17.
“The beauty of it is my club has been kind of a satellite arm of the festival,” Doty said. “I’ve been bringing bands that will perform at the festival to my club over the last few months to showcase them and get patrons excited.”
In addition to headliner Tad Robinson, performers include The Shari Puorto Band, The Honey Lickers, The Chris Fast Band, Bill Magee Blues Band, JD Priest Band, Tim Cash Band and Stoney B. Blues.
There will also be food trucks and vendors on site to keep hunger at bay and a beer and wine garden to quench your thirst.
Gates open at 10 a.m. and performances begin at noon unti 10 p.m., Saturday, April 21, Temecula Civic Center, 41000 Main St., Temecula. $38; children 10 and under are free. 951-676-2722, temeculabluesfestival.com .
