Motorola also announced three new E series phones — the Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play
Motorola finally launched the long-time rumoured Moto G6 series phones on Thursday at an event in Brazil. Under the G6 series, the Lenovo owned company launched three smartphones including the Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play. Out of the three, the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus are slightly expensive and have premium specs sheet when compared to the Moto G6 Play — which is a budget segment device and comes with almost the same design but toned-down specifications. Alongside the G6 series, Motorola also announced three new E series phones — the Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play.
Coming to the G6 series first, out of the three, Moto G6 Plus comes with the most premium specifications and packs bigger display, faster processor, and more RAM than its two siblings — Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play. While the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play comes with the same display size and RAM, but vary in terms of battery capacity, camera setup, and processor. Here’s a closer look at the newly launched Motorola’s Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play smartphones.
Processor: Starting with the premium phone, the Moto G6 Plus is the most powerful phone, and is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor with Adreno 508 GPU. The Moto G6 Play is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 427 processor while the Moto G6 is powered by a more powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at 1.8GHz.
RAM: The Moto G6 Play comes with 2GB and 3GB RAM options. Moto G6, on the other hand, comes in 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM versions. While the Moto G6 Plus with 4GB and 6GB of RAM.
Internal storage: While the Moto G6 Play 2GB RAM comes with 16GB storage, the 3GB RAM version is coupled with 32GB storage. The Moto G6 3GB RAM version, on the other hand, comes with 32GB storage, while the 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. In case of Moto G6 Plus, both the 4GB and 6GB of RAM models will ship with 64GB of internal storage. All the three Motorola phones support expandable storage.
Screen: As far as the screen size is concerned, Moto G6 Plus is slightly bigger in size. The Moto G6 Plus comes with a 5.9-inch, while, the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play comes with a 5.7-inch bezel-less display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Moto G6 Play has an HD+ resolution, the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus come with full-HD+ screen resolution.
Rear camera: The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus come with dual rear cameras, where the primary camera includes a 12-megapixel sensor, while the secondary camera comes with a 5-megapixel image sensor. The Moto G6 Play, on the other hand, comes with a single rear camera which includes a 13-megapixel image sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
Front camera: On the front, all the three newly launched Motorola phones — Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 and the affordable Moto G6 Play come with an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
Software: All the three Moto G6 series phones run Android 8.0 Oreo software out-of-the-box.
Battery: The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus are backed by a 3,000mAh and 3,200mAh battery set up respectively. Both the phones come with 15W TurboCharging support. On the other hand, the Moto G6 Play is more powerful in terms of the battery set up and is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. The Moto G6 Play comes with support for 10W fast charging. The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus include a USB Type-C port, while the Moto G6 Play comes with standard micro-USB port.

— The Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus have a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, while the G6 Play has it embedded on the back.
—The Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 come with dual-tone, dual-lens LED flash on the back, and a selfie flash in front. While the Moto G6 Play includes a single LED flash is on the back, and a single selfie flash on the back.
— The Moto G6 comes with a new edge-to-edge Full HD+ Max Vision display, which promises deliver a great gaming and viewing experience. The phone comes with an ultra-wide 18:9 aspect ratio and has an integrated Dolby Audio preset modes for an enhanced sound experience.
— Moto G6 is wrapped in scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass with a 3D contoured back for a comfortable grip.
—All the three Motorola phones come with p2i water-repellent coating which will help protect the phone from accidental splashes or light rain.
For now, all the three Motorola phones including the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, and Moto G6 Plus are available in Brazil. Starting next week the smartphones will be available in Mexico and various Asia Pacific countries including India. However, Motorola is yet to announce the India launch date of the phones, but we expect the phones to go launch in the country in the next few weeks or a couple of months maybe. As for the pricing details, the Moto G6 Play has been launched at a starting price of $199 which roughly translates to Rs 13,135. While the Moto G6 Play will start at $249 (roughly Rs 16,435) and the Moto G6 Plus will meanwhile start at 299 Euros (roughly Rs 24,300). The Moto G6 is launched in four colours — Deep Indigo, Black, Blush, and Silver, while the Moto G6 Play comes only in two colours — Deep Indigo and Flash Gray.
