Last month, Razer promised that its phone would be getting updated to 8.1 — it has now delivered on that commitment. The handset is also now available for purchase at Best Buy in two colors.
After announcing that it would update its handset to Android 8.1 Oreo last month, Razer has now followed through on the commitment, releasing the update over-the-air and rolling it out over the coming weeks.
The Razer Phone made its debut in November 2017 and launched with Android 7.1.1. The new update will surely bring some welcome improvements to the handset, along with some new features that come stock with Android Oreo. Along with the OS update, the firm is also updating Nova Launcher, which it uses for its Android experience and offering some general fixes too.
Along with the new OS update, Razer Phone will now be made available at Best Buy retail stores and its website. The retailer will carry two unlocked models, giving users the choice between a chrome or green Razer logo on the rear of the handset. Best Buy joins Razer.com, Amazon, and Microsoft Stores in carrying the handset.
For those that own a Razer Phone, be on the lookout for the new update. If you do not see it immediately, don’t worry, it is a phased rollout that will take place over the next ten days.
