Former “The Young and the Restless” star Elizabeth Sung, died Tuesday, according to multiple media reports. She was 63.
Sung appeared on the long-running CBS soap as Luan Violen Abbott, owner of the Saigon Shack restaurant, from 1994 to 1996.
CBS did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on Sung’s death.
Her other notable TV credits include “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Sopranos,” “Bones,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and “Charmed.”
On the silver screen, Sung starred in “The Joy Luck Club,” “Memoirs of Geisha,” and “Lethal Weapon 4.”
Sung appeared in several projects that have yet to be released, including “Nasa Seals,” “The Kominsky Method,” and “Meet the Ho’s.”
The actress was born and raised in Hong Kong and fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin, according to Soaps.com .
She began studying ballet as a child and graduated from the Julliard School in New York City with a degree in dance and earned an MFI in directing from the American Film Institute.
Sung worked extensively with Asian Pacific American creatives in Los Angeles, appearing in APA shorts and films, including the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival award-winning flick “For Izzy.”
According to Soaps.com, Sung was a patron of Humans of VC, which develops and supports the “voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander filmmakers and media artists who empower communities and challenge perspectives.”
