The Galaxy Note 9 will come packing a massive 4,000 mAh battery inside its spacious chassis.
Gadget leaker Ice Universe reports that the Galaxy Note 9 will come packing a massive 4,000 mAh battery inside its spacious chassis. For comparison, the current-generation Galaxy Note 8 «only” has a 3,300 mAh battery. This should result in a pretty significant uptick in battery life given the power efficiency of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with its more refined 10nm manufacturing process compared to the Snapdragon 835 used in the Galaxy Note 8.
A separate report suggests that the Galaxy Note 9 will support faster wireless charging. The Galaxy S9 can be wirelessly charged with Samsung’s EP-5100 charger, which is rated at 9 volts and 1.67 amperes. However, a new model – EP-6100 – has been unearthed that is certified for 12 volts and 2.1 amperes. The faster charging rate could be beneficial in topping off that massive 4,000 mAh battery in a reasonable amount of time. However, anyone that wants to recharge the battery in the shortest amount of time will want to use a wall charger with fast charging support.
In addition to the larger battery and new wireless charger, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to rock the aforementioned Snapdragon 845 processor (Samsung Exynos 9810 for world markets) paired with at least 6GB of RAM (we’re expecting 8GB). As with the previous generation, the Galaxy Note 9 has dual, horizontally-mounted cameras on the back which sit above a small fingerprint reader. The requisite USB-C and 3.5mm headphone ports will be included along with a dedicated button for the Bixby 2.0 AI assistant.
If all goes according to plan, the Galaxy Note 9 should be unveiled at a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on August 9 th .
