We’re all waiting with bated breath for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The device is expected to release on August 24th, which is ways off. Supposed images of the Galaxy Note 9 have already been floating about the internet which indicates a horizontal dual camera setup and an unsightly fingerprint scanner below it. Today, some images surfaced on Twitter that showed the Galaxy Note 9 after it was subjected to a drop test. Let’s have a look at them.
Like all previous Galaxy Note devices, the Note 9 will also come with a Bluetooth-enabled S-pen that can be used for a variety of tasks ranging from taking notes to highlighting content on the screen. Leaked images of the S-pen indicate that it’ll be yellow in colour. We hope that more colour options are available, as that particular shade of yellow might not sit well with many people. The S-Pen brought some exciting features last year, and we’re hoping that it does the same this time around as well.
As you can see, the Note 9 appears to be a battered and bruised, which is to be expected after being subjected to a drop test. Unlike the Galaxy S9 and S9+, the Note 9 opts for a horizontal camera setup. It could be due to several users complaining that they accidentally smudged the camera lens on their Galaxy S9/S9+ while attempting to use the fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 9 has a unique shape, similar to the one found on the S9/S9+. We’re not entirely sure how much trauma the Note 9 in question was subject to, but it appears to have held its own with only minor scratches.
The Galaxy Note series of phones, on average, are larger than their Galaxy S counterparts and the Note 9 will be no exception. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2096×1440 and an 18.5-19:9 aspect ration. Thankfully, Samsung has stayed away from the dreadful notched display that’s plaguing manufacturers all around. Under the hood, we’ll very likely see the same Exynos 9810 SoC found in the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. There have been rumours of a next-generation Exynos 9820 powering the device as well.
The device is expected to ship with at least 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. An 8GB RAM, 256GB storage variant is expected to be the next step up. We could even see a 512GB storage variant as the maxed out variant of the phone. Other features include a dual camera setup on the rear complete with a dual-aperture lens and a telephoto lens. A 4,000mAh Li-ion battery is to power the Galaxy Note 9. The device also comes with an array of sensors ranging from an iris scanner to a heart rate sensor. Along with the new S-Pen, another thing to look forward to is Bixby 2.0, which is rumoured to release alongside the Note 9. Bixby’s reception has been lukewarm ever since it was released and we hope that Samsung has something big up its sleeve with Bixby 2.0
The Galaxy Note 9 will by no means be easy on your pocket. The base variant of the flagship is expected to cost at least Rs. 69,999 and the maxed out version could go for as high as Rs. 80,000. We might not even get to see the 512GB variant in India until much after its release.
