HBO released the first look at the third season of “True Detective” Sunday night.
The third season stars Mahershala Ali in the lead role, which means he has some pretty big shoes to fill. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson set a standard in Season One that I don’t think will ever be met again. If there’s one person capable of doing it, however, Ali might be the man.
Here’s the plot of the third season, according to IMDB: “Season Three will tell the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.” (RELATED: RACHEL MCADAMS’ KNIFE SKILLS IN ‘TRUE DETECTIVE’ ARE CRIMINALLY FORGOTTEN ABOUT)
There aren’t a ton of plot details in the trailer, but it is certainly dark as hell.
I loved the first season of the hit HBO show, thought the second season was better than most people would admit and I think the third season should be great too.
We’ll all find out for ourselves when it gets released January 2019.
