If you’ve loaded up the beta, you’re probably aware that there’s a big Football Manager German Third Division missing hole. Let’s explore what’s happened — and how to get it back.
The Football Manager 2019 beta isn’t quite the complete package. For one thing, the German Third Division, otherwise known as the 3. Bundesliga is conspicuously absent from this year’s entry. Many prospective lower league managers may already be furrowing their brow at the development, so what’s happened and is there a German Third Division fix?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the German Third Division will not be in the (official) full release of Football Manager 2019 come November 2, nor the ongoing beta. Sports Interactive’s Neil Brock has taken to the game’s forums to deliver the death blow, stating, “It’s due to licensing issues.”
Reading between the lines, it appears that, off the back of the game’s brand-new Bundesliga licensing deal, only the first two tiers of German football have been fully included. For the fans of the likes of 1860 Munich, as well as those looking to make full use of the competitive German Third Division for their reserve teams, this might be a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s the reality nonetheless.
Common logic would dictate that the in-game editor, which goes live on November 2, would be a more than capable tool for a passionate community to get their hands on and make up for the 3. Bundesliga’s absence. If that’s the case, the Steam Workshop and fan sites such as FM Scout should be your first port of call for any and all additional licenses to be added. This sort of info, it should be pointed out, cannot be added to the beta.
However, there’s a chance it won’t be that simple. Sports Interactive’s new deal has been shouted from the rooftops and, yet, the terms of the deal may require any editor data to be locked out of fan use. For now, we’ll have to cross our fingers and, in the case of 3. Bundesliga being locked out from the game, someone from the community to come to the rescue.
