• Born Aug. 9,1979, in San Antonio, Texas.
• Graduated third in his class at New Braunfels High in New Braunfels, Texas, where he was a four-sport athlete.
• Played at Texas Tech for Spike Dykes (1998-99) and current Washington State coach Mike Leach (2000-02).
• In three seasons as a starter, led the Red Raiders to a 24-16 record and three bowl games.
• As a senior, threw for 5,017 yards and 45 TDs, earning a unanimous All-Big 12 first-team selection, the Associated Press Offensive Player of the year, and the Sammy Baugh Trophy, presented to the nation’s best college passer.
• Graduated from Texas Tech University in 2001 with a degree in business administration.
