There’s a bit of bright spot in food prices at the grocery store. After months of increases, the overall prices consumers paid for food, including groceries, fell in July, according to U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistic’s monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released Wednesday. It was the first decline since April 2019. The decrease was less than a half percent and Americans are still paying more overall for food than last year, as prices are up 4.1% over the last 12 months, the report said.
