Sen. Ted Cruz was not the only major Texas political figure to flee the state after a devastating winter storm left millions without power and heat, with The Dallas Morning News reporting controversial state Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) went on a trip to Utah to discuss a lawsuit against Google. “Texas Republicans do not give a damn about the people they were elected to represent,” Texas Democratic Party chairman Gilberto Hinojosa said in a statement. “They continue to focus on issues that don’t affect the lives of everyday Texans to gaslight them into thinking they are doing their jobs.” Paxton has launched an investigation into ERCOT, which manages the state’s electrical grid.
