Our through line for “We’re All Mad Here” ( You Season 3 Episode 7) is games, underscored by an opening scene in which the Quinn-Golbergs destroy the Conrads at charades. Later, Joe has to act moderately but credibly jealous when he sees Love flash Theo her bra through the bedroom window; if juggling Love and Marienne is what it takes to get closer to the latter, “then game on.” Joe’s skills at the game of love seem to desert him the next day at the library, as he tells Marienne in front of another staffer that he thought about her all weekend, then fails to win over Marienne’s daughter, Juliette (Dallas Skye) while also freely telling Marienne — in front of Juliette! — how happy Marienne has made him. Act like you’ve been here before, my guy! Love is pressed into dealing with a couple of crises. First, Sherry drafts her to cover for a caterer who’s had to drop out right before the Alice In Wonderland -themed library fundraiser Sherry’s running. (Before leaving, Sherry comments on Love’s “glow”; when Love confirms that she took Sherry’s advice on choosing Joe as her soulmate, and that everything’s going great except sex, Sherry promises to send her a blog post she wrote on how to address that.) Love’s other problem is Dottie. Her pre-nup cut her off from getting a share of Anavrin, but her ex-husband Ray also managed to get the vineyard in the settlement, out of spite. Love tries to be empathetic, but is clearly concerned that Dottie is going around day-drunk in her pajama pants. Marienne having told Joe that Ryan will be at the library gala to deliver a big donation on behalf of the TV station he works for, Joe takes it upon himself to solve her Ryan problem. He eavesdrops on Ryan’s share at a recovery meeting. He spies on Ryan at home. And he decides that, with Ryan’s sobriety in a vulnerable state, all it will take to knock him off the wagon is adding ground Adderall to the powder with which Ryan makes his ubiquitous protein shakes! Then Joe gets home to see Love has interpreted Sherry’s blog post — “The Secret To Being A Hot Wife” — by greeting Joe in a skimpy black ensemble and heels and trying to blow him in the kitchen next to all the cookies for the gala. This might be a health hazard if Joe hadn’t already emptied his tank at Ryan’s, jerking off nude photos of Marienne he found there. Love pretends to laugh off Joe’s physical lack of interest, but Joe can tell he’s going to have to fix it.
