In the end, the Chargers didn’t have an answer for Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs. Sometimes they hemmed him in, surrounded him and thumped him to the turf Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. Other times, they watched him break tackles and gain big yardage.
Jacobs darted through the Chargers’ defense on his touchdown run, untouched as he raced into the end zone with 7:52 left in the half. The Raiders had managed little offensively up to that point, but then they began to dominate the line play and Jacobs ran around and through tacklers.
“I thought we played well early,” Chargers coach Brandon Staley said of defending Jacobs. “I thought there were some missed tackles in the second half, which led to most of his yards. I thought we were in good run structures but missing tackles.
