\nLogitech could be looking make its biggest acquisition ever, as a new report from Reuters claims that the accessory maker could be looking to pay as much as two billion dollars for headset maker Plantronics.
The latter company is based in Santa Cruz, California, and it makes headsets for a variety of purposes, such as gaming and mobile communications. It also offers solutions for businesses, including hardware and software for the workplace, such as call centers.
Logitech has reportedly made a $2.2 billion dollar offer to acquire Plantronics, whose current market capitalization is about $2 billion. Last year, the company paid $85 million to buy ASTRO, a firm which also makes headsets, though those are geared towards gaming consoles. The purported purchase of Plantronics would represent a much bigger investment from Logitech as it continues to try to expand its areas of business.
Sources familiar with the matter say that, should the deal go through, it could happen as early as next week, but there’s still a chance that it won’t happen. However, as expected, neither company has commented on the reports, so only time will tell.
