The service extends to a number of countries with a free trial period. Recently, the service was launched in thirteen more countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Unfortunately, Spotify up until now hasn’t been able to enter the Indian market. However, according to Variety magazine, rumor has it that the service might be coming to India in the next six months. This isn’t exactly surprising as Spotify has been trying its best to arrive in India.
While this sounds like recent news, it’s actually rooted in pretty old rumors. In March this year, Daniel EK, the Co-Founder and CEO of Spotify, made his desire to bring Spotify to India fairly known. However, until now Spotify hasn’t been able to make it to India. However, according to Variety, the service may actually arrive in India in the next six months. Bear in mind, this is based on speculation and it may even take longer for Spotify to come to Indian soil.
However, rumor has it that if they do manage to make it, the service will launch in India with a 30+ day free trial period. Unfortunately, at this moment, there are too many obstacles for it to enter the Indian market and occupy a permanent spot. The company’s launch in India was blocked sometime back due to an issue with U. S labels. However, what remains a bigger threat to its existence in India is dealing with local publishers and local record companies. This is one of the main reasons why the company hasn’t been able to specify any timeframe for its launch in India.
The company still remains resolute in its decision to bring its service to India. Did you know that Spotify actually leased office space in Mumbai? The company even managed to get the former OLX India CEO, Amarjit Singh Batra on board. If the rumor is true and Spotify will arrive in the next six months, then it will face competition from similar Indian services like Gaana, Amazon Prime Music, Saavn, Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Hungama.

Spotify is one of the most renowned music streaming services across the globe.
