\nDETROIT — Hugh Jackman is coming to Detroit.
In the announcement you didn’t see coming, the Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe- and Tony Award-winning performer is bringing his first world tour to Little Caesars Arena on Monday, June 24,2019.
The Man. The Music. The Show. will feature the man known as The Wolverine performing hit songs from «The Greatest Showman,» «Les Miserables,» and more from Broadway and film, accompanied by a live orchestra. The unique shows will also feature Jackman dancing and telling stories from his life in entertainment.
«It’s not Wolverine: The Musical,» Jackman joked while announcing the tour on NBC’s Today. «This is a dream come true for me. I’m on the back nine of my life and this is about the best parts of the front nine.»
Following a run in the UK and Europe, the 22-city North American leg will begin Tuesday, June 18 at Toyota Center in Houston. Tickets for the North American shows go on sale beginning Friday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. local time at HughJackmanTheShow.com .
Jackman has become known for a wide variety of roles, including his award-winning turn on Broadway as the 1970s singer\/songwriter Peter Allen and the claw-wielding Wolverine in the blockbuster X-Men franchise.
He garnered his first Academy Award nomination, for Best Actor, for his performance in Tom Hooper’s «Les Miserables,» based on the popular stage show created from Victor Hugo’s famous novel of the same name.
Jackman’s standout performance as protagonist Jean Valjean also earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy\/Musical.
He was also nominated for his role as P. T. Barnum in «The Greatest Showman.» His 2018 release, «The Front Runner,» is expected to contend for several Academy Awards in early 2019.<\/p>\n
