One of the major issues that needs to be addressed is RDO‘s unbalanced in-game economy, with items such as a can of baked beans having been comparably priced to a golden wedding ring. Thankfully, it looks as if Rockstar Games intends to use future updates to tackle the problem.
As seen in the tweet below, Rockstar Games has issued a statement saying that Red Dead Online will be receiving updates “as early as the end of this week with more updates to come next week” that will attempt to effectively re-balance the in-game economy. That said, though, the developer has stressed that fans should be realistic as to how quickly the process of getting the economy just right will take, as it will “require some additional balancing in order to ensure all activities are appropriately rewarding and fun”.
Of course, Rockstar also intends to use the forthcoming updates for Red Dead Online to rectify some of the bugs that have been reported in the game thus far, particularly those that cause players to be kicked from gameplay sessions. There’s no word just yet as to exactly when the updates will drop, what other bugs will be fixed, or if any of these patches will be implemented to resolve instances where certain story missions aren’t showing up for some players.
Taking all of this into consideration, it’s safe to say that most, if not all Red Dead Online players will be glad to know that Rockstar appears to be committed to actively working toward providing a more balanced in-game economy. However, considering the fact that microtransactions are confirmed for RDO, it’s best to wait and see just how fair and significant the changes to prices in the game are going to be before celebrating too soon. Until then, one can only hope the game doesn’t wind up becoming a grind-fest that’s as demanding as Grand Theft Auto Online can often be.
Red Dead Online is playable now through Red Dead Redemption 2, which is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The video game developer Rockstar Games releases a statement declaring that forthcoming updates aim to properly re-balance Red Dead Online’s in-game economy.
