Epic confirmed that the new creative mode will be coming soon, launching alongside season seven of the game.
News of the mode was first leaked by a YouTuber named Lachlan, who indicated that the feature will be released later this week. While Lachlan has pulled his video, Fortnite Intel broke down all the details from his hands-on clip. We’ve reached out to Epic Games for confirmation, but have yet to hear back at the time of publication.
The mode will reportedly give players the ability to visit islands featured by Epic Games and the islands of their friends, or let players build their own. You will be able to fly over your environment while creating the island in order to get from place to place quicker, and edits will be made using what looks like a cell phone in your character’s hand. Judging from the description of the clip, it sounds as if players will be given a large number of options for how they’d like to edit their island, including the ability to move, copy and erase items. Each island reportedly has a memory limit to make sure it’s not over-stuffed with structures.
You’ll be able to adjust the game’s rules on your island, with these options seen in the leaked video:
Game
Teams
Time Limit
Spawn Location
Starting Health
Infinite Ammo
Infinite Resources
Pick Axe Building Damage
Drop Items When Eliminated
Fall Damage
Gravity
Player Names & Location
Respawn Height
Down But Not Out
Island Edit Permission
Players can also select the items, weapons and traps they’d like to spawn, giving them a large palette from which to create new modes and ways to play. Play begins when you select “start mini-game,” and any destruction that takes place during each round won’t carry over into creative mode; your island can be used over and over with friends or strangers. Players will also be given a wide variety of pre-fabricated structures and obstacle courses to use in their creation.
Update: Epic Games confirmed creative mode, which is called Fortnite Creative. It will launch alongside the season seven battle pass.

A leaked video shows off Fortnite’s newest addition: A creative mode where players can create their own islands and craft their own game modes, environments and obstacle courses.
