\nOn Sunday night, \u201cFamily Guy\u201d made a thoughtful and emotional tribute to the late Carrie Fisher \u2014 but still managed to balance it with its on-brand humor.
In the episode, Peter makes a eulogy at Angela\u2019s (voiced by Fisher) funeral that started off with an out-of-context definition of the word \u201cclass\u201d and an offering of classic TV show theme songs including \u201cThe Mary Tyler Moore Show,\u201d \u201cFriends,\u201d \u201cCheers\u201d and, oddly enough, the wordless theme to \u201cSanford and Son.\u201d
Peter switched gears and said some touching words about his former boss who died from swimming less than 20 minutes after she had eaten. \u201cThat was Angela \u2014 fearless, spontaneous, honest about herself just as much as she was about the world around her,\u201d he said. \u201cShe had grace, courage and an unmated zest for life. She may be gone, but her voice will live on in DVD and Hulu Plus and tiny droid-projected messages. I may have lost a boss, but heaven has gained a princess.\u201d After delivering his tearful eulogy he realizes he is surrounded by Asians and is at the wrong funeral.
The tribute was a pleasant surprise for \u201cFamily Guy,\u201d which is known for its lowbrow humor.
