Instead, the NFL plans to operate largely as it would have. The plan is for teams to conduct training camps over the next several weeks ahead of the season opening in September. The season will be played out with teams traveling city-to-city as they would have normally, only with far fewer fans in the stadiums. The NFL has said it will allow each team to come up with its own policy for having fans in the stands.<br \/>\u201cWe don\u2019t believe that the right way of looking at this is somehow bending COVID to football,\u201d DeMaurice Smith, the executive director of the NFLPA, said Friday. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to bend football to the virus.\u201d<br \/>72 \u2014 That\u2019s how many NFL players are known to have tested positive for coronavirus, making up around 2.5% of all the league\u2019s players.<br \/>The 2020 NFL season is scheduled to kick off on Sept.10, when the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans.
