\nRep. Karen Bass, a California Democrat representing the Los Angeles area, said Sunday she thinks local officials reopened Los Angeles County too quickly.
Bass said that LA County officials are weighing the need to reimplement a stay-at-home order, amid spiking cases in the area.
She added that she has confidence local officials will \u201cfollow the science\u201d to determine whether or not to lift or reimpose restrictions.
Pressed on what she would do if in the position to make the call, Bass said she would go back to a stay-at-home order.
\u201cI would be very, very conservative about how we open up,\u201d she said.
On Saturday, Los Angeles Public Health reported 3,628 new cases and 53 new deaths, bringing the total to 172,325 cases and 4,351 deaths.
California is among states experiencing an increase in coronavirus cases. There is a statewide mask order in place, and earlier this month California Gov. Gavin Newsomshut down several indoor activities and all bar operations across the state in response to spiking cases.<\/p>\n
