\nAn off-duty Seattle police officer was struck and killed early Sunday after stopping to help an accident on I-5, Washington State Patrol said. Two crashes happened Saturday night into early Sunday morning on I-5 in Seattle. The first crash, involving about 13 cars, occurred around 11:43 p.m. Saturday near Spokane Street. A second 3-car collision happened at about 1:18 a.m. Sunday near S. Forrest Street. An SPD officer stopped to help the cars in the second collision but was struck and killed by a passing vehicle at about 1:19 a.m. The officer died at the scene. The driver who struck the officer remained at the scene and cooperated with police. WSP said one of the drivers in the 3-car collision then stole the SPD officer\u2019s car and fled the area. State patrol said they are no longer looking for the car but are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact state patrol. SPD said it is not releasing the identity of the officer at this time and only said the officer has been in the department for five years.<\/p>\n
