\nPinhead is coming to Hulu. Not only that \u2014 in a new reboot of the 1980s classic Hellraiser, the iconic horror movie character will also be gender-swapped. The L Word: Generation Q \u2018s Jamie Clayton is set to lead the show as Pinhead herself. The project is described as a \u201cloyal, yet evolved reimagining\u201d of the movie based on Clive Barker \u2019s original novella The Hellbound Heart. Barker has regained the U.S. rights to the franchise, joining the project as a producer. Initially, Barker expanded his story into a 1987 movie he wrote and directed. \u201cHaving seen some of the designs from David Bruckner\u2019s new Hellraiser film, they pay homage to what the first film created, but then take it to places it\u2019s never been before,\u201d Barker stated. \u201cThis is a Hellraiser on a scale that I simply didn\u2019t expect. David and his team are steeped in the story\u2019s mythology, but what excites me is their desire to honour the original even as they revolutionize it for a new generation.\u201d The 1987 version of Hellraiser, which starred Doug Bradley as Pinhead, followed a puzzle box that opens a gateway to a terrifying world of Cenobites. The mutilated beings are dedicated to torture, led by a man appearing to have a bunch of screws in his head called Pinhead. The new Hellraiser has already wrapped production, and Spyglass has just revealed the cast. Odessa A\u2019zion is starring alongside Clayton in the movie, which will debut on Hulu sometime in next year Other cast members include Brandon Flynn ( 13 Reasons Why), Goran Visnjic ( The Boys), Drew Starkey ( Outer Banks), Adam Faison ( Everything\u2019s Gonna Be Okay), Aoife Hinds ( Normal People), Hiam Abbass ( Succession) and Selina Lo ( Boss Level). Barker joins the project as producer alongside David S. Goyer, Keith Levine and Marc Toberoff. David Bruckner ( The Night House) directed from a screenplay penned by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, with a story by Goyer. The news comes after a hefty legal battle in which Barker regained American rights to the franchise due to copyright law and a settlement with a production company.
